Jannatul Baqi Dua full Image

There are two main situations for dua when referring to Jannatul Baqi (the graveyard in Medina):

  1. Entering Jannatul Baqi: Upon entering the cemetery, it is recommended to recite this dua:

  • Transliteration: Assalamu alaykum ahlu diyarin minal mu'minin wal Muslimin; Wa inna in sha Allahu bikum laahiqoon; Nas'al Allaha lana wala'kum al-afiyah.

  • Translation: "Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of this abode of believers and Muslims. Verily, we will (also) join you, if Allah wills. We ask Allah for forgiveness for ourselves and for you."

It's important to note: When reciting this dua or any others while in Jannatul Baqi, avoid making dua directly in front of any specific graves.

  1. General Dua for those Buried in Jannatul Baqi: Here's a dua you can recite to supplicate for those buried in Jannatul Baqi, including Prophet Muhammad's (ﷺ) family and companions:

  • Transliteration: Allahumma-ghfir li-ahli Baqi'-l-Gharqad.

  • Translation: "O Allah, forgive the inhabitants of Jannatul Baqi."
