 The Six Kalimas, also known as the Six Words, are foundational statements of faith in Islam. They are considered essential for every Muslim to learn and recite. Here's a breakdown of each Kalima:

1. Kalima Tayybah (The Word of Purity):

  • Arabic: لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله (La ilaha ill-Allah)
  • Translation: There is no god but Allah (God)
  • Significance: This core principle of Islam emphasizes belief in one God, Allah.

2. Kalima Shahadah (The Word of Testimony):

  • Arabic: أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الله وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ (Ashhadu an la ilaha ill-Allah wa hudhu wa la sharika lahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu)
  • Translation: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (God), alone without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
  • Significance: This Kalima affirms not only the oneness of God but also the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH).

3. Kalima Tamjeed (The Word of Glory):

  • Arabic: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ (Subhan Allah, al-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu Akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-llah)
  • Translation: Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the greatest, and there is no power or might except with Allah.
  • Significance: This Kalima glorifies Allah, expresses gratitude, and acknowledges His power.

4. Kalima Tauheed (The Word of Oneness):

  • Arabic: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ * اللهُ الصَّمَدُ * لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ * وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad, Allahus Samad, Lam yalid wa lam yuולד, wa lam yakul lahu kufuwan ahad)
  • Translation: Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent." (This is a quotation from the Quran, Surah Al-Ikhlas)
  • Significance: This Kalima emphasizes the absolute oneness and uniqueness of Allah.

5. Kalima Istighfar (The Word of Seeking Forgiveness):

  • Arabic varies depending on the specific supplication chosen. Here's a common example: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ * اللهمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي كُلَّهَا، ظَاهِرَهَا وَبَاطِنَهَا، وَأَوَّلَهَا وَآخِرَهَا (A'وذu bi-llahi min ash-shaytanir-rajim, Allahumma ighfirli dhunubi kulliha, zahiraha wa batinha, wa aw walaha wa akhiraha)
  • Translation: I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed Satan. O Allah, forgive me all my sins, those that are apparent and those that are hidden, the first and the last.
  • Significance: This Kalima acknowledges one's shortcomings and seeks Allah's forgiveness.

6. Kalima Raddud-Kufr (The Word of Rejecting Disbelief):

  • Arabic varies depending on the specific supplication chosen. Here's a common example: أَرَدُّدُ عَلَيْكُمْ كُفْرَكُمْ وَشِرْكَكُمْ وَوَثَنِيَّتَكُمْ وَإِلَهَكُمْ (Arodu alaykum kufruka wa shirkakum wa wathaniyyatukum wa ilahaakum)
