Here is the Dua for Istikhara:
- اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَستَقِدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِن فَضْلِكَ الْعظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ. اَللَّهُمَّ إنْ كُنتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِّي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ. وَإِن كُنتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ شَرٌّ لِّي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَصِرْفْهُ عَنِّي وَصِرْفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِي الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ رَضِّنِي بِهِ
Transliteration:
Allahumma inni astakheeruka bi 'ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika wa as'alוקה min fadlika al-adheem fa innaka taqdiru wa la aqdiru wa ta'lamu wa la a'lamu wa anta 'allamu al-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna hadhaal amra khairun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa 'aaqibat amri faqdurhu li wa yassirhu li thumma barik li فيه. Wa in kunta ta'lamu annahu sharrun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa 'aaqibat amri fasrifhu anni wa صرفني عنه waqdur li al-khayra haythu kana thumma raddini bih
Meaning:
"O Allah, I seek Your counsel through Your knowledge and I seek Your assistance through Your might, and I ask You from Your immense favor, for verily You are Able (to do all things) while I am not able, and You know (all things) while I do not know, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (mention the matter here) is good for me in my religion and my worldly life and in my Hereafter, then ordain it for me and make it easy for me and then bless me therein. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion and my worldly life and in my Hereafter, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and then make me satisfied with it."
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when performing Istikhara:
- Make sure you are performing Istikhara for a specific and important decision.
- It is recommended to perform Istikhara before sleeping.
- Pray two rak'ahs of voluntary prayer before reciting the dua.
- After reciting the dua, clear your mind and try to sleep. Pay attention to any dreams you may have, but do not rely solely on them for guidance.
- Ultimately, trust in Allah's (SWT) decision and believe that He will guide you towards what is best for you.
